One thing I learned from motherhood is that high heels and babies don't go together. I don't know if all Moms would agree to that.

I could not remember the last time I wore sexy shoes like that, but I did when I really need to. Wearing high heeled shoes is something I could not bring myself to do. Its because I'm not comfortable. End of explanation.

I'm more on flats and flip flops.

The main point here is my ever favorite sandals (Sanuk ) is going to retire soon. The most comfortable pair of sandals that I have (the only one).

I claim to have the ugliest skin. Zits are popping out regularly. I have a sensitive oily skin and that makes my problem more serious. I have to consider two things, my oily skin and the emerging pimples all over my face.

I used to visit skin clinics before but I stopped suddenly because almost always I became too lazy especially applying those beauty products religiously.

Teaching Kids to Read

My kindergarten daughter is learning how to read already. One time when we arrived home from school, she surprised me by showing her paper with three letter words written on it. Then she read the words one by one. It is always a joy seeing our kids progress from whatever they do.

There are skills that help our kid's ability to read. And teaching them these skills are necessary to improve their reading. Parents play a vital role in developing these skills. Apart from acquiring these skills at school, learning should always takes place at home too. Our kids spend the longest hour at home than school. They should make the best out of those times by studying with us parents at their side.

One of the skills needed to improve reading is the auditory skill. Kids should learn to distinguish sounds, hear rhyming words and recall association of the letter and the sound it makes. Use flash cards to keep your kids more interested and they will learn the best through visual aids aside from just hearing them.

Rhyming words also help develop kid's ability to read. Choose a simple word like fan then encourage them to think of words which has the same sound. That way, it also stimulate their memory.

According to Edward Fry Ph.D. in his book "How to Teaching Reading: For Teachers, Parents, Tutors" discusses a reading technique which helps beginning readers improve their skills. To use his technique, select a short passage in an easy book. Read the section to your child twice, then read the section together two times and finally sit by your child as they read the section back to you. This method gives your child confidence and the opportunity to see the words, hear the words and then read the words.

Also help your kids improve their comprehension skills. Read with them then ask questions after.

I said to myself not to overly whine at certain things as it will only lead to stress and bad vibes. However, I could not resist nor shake off the thoughts that's in my head. It becomes worse even more as time goes by especially when triggered by annoying actions from someone I expect to change.

I will not mention names.

Here I am again *expecting* when I said again that I should not expect anymore or I should expect less. How could I not expect when I know change is a must! When I know I'm doing my part to change too?

I just feel its unfair in my part.No, that's not being too selfish when I said my "part". Because I know that it should be reciprocated.

Well, I guess... I guess its time to really not expect anymore. And I hope there's an easy way to do that too...

It was last Thursday Sasha's school celebrated its foundation day. We went to church for thanksgiving then also celebrated family day in the afternoon. The school did not have a big celebration this year due to the previous expenses spent by us especially last Christmas when we went to Manila for the kid's field trip. It was a relief, we're thankful somehow that the school head did not push us again this time to spend money. lol

Anyhoo, kids performed a dance number.

Then played several games too. Like this one, a game called pass the ball. My kiddo did not win, but she enjoyed the game.

And because its family day, just look at us! :)

Honestly, never tried any product from The Body Shop. But I've heard a lot of positive feedback from the people I know who are using it.

Last Christmas though, my MIL directly told me that she wants The Body Shop's White Musk Perfume as a birthday present. So I went to the nearest store and bought her that. I bought it with discount which I forgot already how much I paid for it. haha! I bought her a set actually, it comes with the perfume, body wash and lotion. It smells good and just right.

Managing Anger

So when times such as this will come again, maybe the following tips are worth considering.

Managing anger, how hard is that? How do you control or manage your anger?

Take a timeout. Take time to breathe like counting 1 to 10 before reacting to a tense situation. It can help slow down your temper in the process.

Once you're calm, express your anger. Express your concerns in a calm way. Don't be too assertive or aggressive while doing it.

Get some exercise. Find ways to divert your negative feelings. Go for a walk, indulge to a physical activity. That way you can be relaxed.

Think before you speak. Do not say anything that you will regret later. So, before opening your mouth think first of the consequences. Words spoken can't be taken back.

Identify possible solutions. Look for ways to solve the problem instead of focusing on what made you mad. Staying mad wont make anything good.

Stick with 'I' statements. This will avoid placing a blame to others. Use "I" statements in describing a problem.

Don't hold a grudge. Easier said than done, but yes don't hold grudges. This will only make your feelings heavier too. Forgive so you can be freed from bitterness as well.

Use humor to release tension. Lighten up the situation by using a humor. This will decrease the tension.

Practice relaxation skills. When you feel like your temper is rising up, try to practice exercises that will help you feel relax.

Know when to seek help. If anger is out of control, try to seek help already.

Nice reminder. I should really practice this more. Yay!

Temporary Relief

If you are following my blogs, or if you happened to read this post yesterday, then maybe you would understand the reason why I am writing this post now.

But then, let me start this blog by saying I am grateful that we had a safe night last night. Thank you Lord.

And another thing to be thankful today, the cause of our troubles was already nowhere in sight. Again, thank you Lord.

Upon arrival from school this morning, I was happy to know that Mr. L (short for lunatic) was off going somewhere with his bag. He's heading to the same place where he's staying whenever he's not around here. So what a joy and more on relief for all of us here. Because when he's around, all of us are not peaceful. Scared that Mr. L would throw a fit and create trouble as he often does when he runs out of money.

To make the long story short, probably his dad (my grandfather) gave him money today and that explains his sudden action to go. That's always the scenario, a cycle that becoming insanely bad and wrong. Money is his pacifier. Ugh.

Yesterday, everyone of us were scared and angry at the same time. My mom for sure has the terrible feeling among us. Who wouldn't feel angry when that L attacked her for no sensible reasons but all out of assumptions and maybe paranoia.

My mom is just a woman- very fragile but contained herself somehow from getting too ireful during that time. Compared to that L, who is forever mindless of his actions. Crazy, he really is.

When mom told me that story, I feel a sudden attack of anger. I blurted out things so bad out of my feelings. I feel like I want that L to disappear even if it takes me to hire a killer. Forgive me Lord for saying it. But that L is too unbearable and intolerable anymore.

But then again, I think I'm too smart now to commit such actions. And yet, the wish of something bad for that L still lingers in my head. Geeezz.. It's too fresh to move on especially now that another bad news came to us this afternoon.

How can a father tell another person who is not a relative but a friend of my dad that he DOESN'T CARE when Mom got killed by his own lunatic son???? Its like he said straight, "Go son killed that woman." Geeezzz... How bad that seems right? Not to mention its too wrong coming from the mouth of my grandfather.

Very dishonorable word.

Our hearts crushed. Don't know what to feel anymore.

Rage. Vengeance.

Help us Lord.

Praying for a permanent relief, peaceful nights.

Life is About Accepting and Respecting Kid's Freedom Too

My kid and I are inseparable since the day she was born. I chose to be a stay at home mom ever since. So yeah, we are very close. Really... Because of that, I am used to doing things for her and that is of course when she was small I was her slave because she can't do things on her own yet. Growing up, she learns to become independent little by little. Well because I taught (and still teaching her) her how to be like that. But there were times, I still want to do things for her. I just feel like I want to make things easier for her.
But in the long run, doing things for her would make her fully dependent and I know its not fine. I have thought what if something bad happens to me, what will be her case if ever... So, everyday I encourage my little girl to do things on her own as long as she's able to do it.
Like taking a bath. It was only these days when I really let her do it by herself. And she's so happy!

Letting her choose what to wear. Yes, I do let her now to wear whatever she wants. Including those outfits she has when going out. She has plenty of it and I think its just wise to let her use them for as long as it fits her.

Letting her just as she is. She loves to make faces, she really had fun doing it every time. She's happy and she makes me happy too with it.Although sometimes she overdo it. haha!

Its painful to feel and see that she doesn't need me that much anymore, unlike the days when she would call my name because she needs me. Now, she's slowly slipping away from my grip. And that's OK because in the end she really has to live on her own.

Oh well, life is about letting other's embrace their own life....

Hubby bought me this blender last year. We brought it here so I could make a healthy drink for our kiddo. The very first time I was able to use this was when Dad was sick, while he's on NGT.

It was two days ago when I recalled I have a blender, I was craving for fruit shake while at my kiddo's school. So I bought ripe mangoes in the market then made a mango shake as we arrived home.

Fully satisfying and healthy. Been planning to make fruit shakes often. So I could really get rid of sodas. Wish! lol

We visited their relatives in the province and we stayed there for few days. So we got the chance to go swimming in the river. It was fun, a quiet place. Sasha got this from her Dad. Her Christmas gift from husband. This is her second bike already, the first one got broken and it's not possible to use anymore. So my thoughtful husband told my ILs to go the mall and buy their princess a bike, and off we go even the little princess was sick.

She is so addicted to biking. Every afternoon or after class she would ride the bike and roam around the house even under the scorching heat.

Yes, during my free time at school while waiting for my tot's class to end, me and other parents there do cross stitching.

I am not new to it, that's why I already finished one and I'm on to my second.

Been eating mangga four days in a row now :) Bought a kilo last time I went to the market. And planning to buy again maybe tomorrow. I love my mangga with spicy alamang. How about you?

Sunday Trip to Baguio

Last Sunday, I went to Baguio to accompany my brother who is studying there. They held a seminar regarding their pre-board review. The admin of the school thought it would be better if parents or guardians are there too.

And yes, that's why I woke up very early that morning because the seminar is at 8 am. And I was there very early too. I waited for my brother for an hour only to find out he's still asleep that's why he's not answering my calls. So I was demanded to go to their school by myself. Then off I go, rode a taxi cab.

This orange flower which hanging on a tree caught my eye while waiting. So I took a photo of it several others too.

And my brother arrived just before the seminar started. Too bad, I forgot to take photo of us. :)

The seminar ended at exactly 12 noon.

Welcome to Living Life with Purpose.

This is another blog. I decided again to make another one. This time, there's nothing new, except that I will write here our daily family happenings when we get somewhere far. I don't want to reveal as of the moment, it might jinx up the plan/s. :)

Well, maybe another headache but heck, I really want to document our life each day when we are together.
